Despite their best efforts, and some of the best teamwork and aggressive play seen in years, East's soccer men were unable to overtake the more seasoned team from Southport. Coach Justin Furlow said, "The boys played well for the first 50 minutes. We didn't capitalize on several chances throughout the first half and had the possibility of ending the half up 2-0, however we went into halftime down 1-0. In the second half, heat and exhaustion began to take its toll, and the boys gave up 4 goals in 30 minutes for the final to be 5-0. Ashby Fernandez had several very good chances throughout the game, and Connor Reagan did a phenomenal job in goal. The team will take on the Cougars this Thursday at 5 p.m. at their field."
