With a nearly full auditorium, more than 100 ECHS students acted, performed, danced and sang their way through a winter concert that left the audience impressed and full of holiday energy. Under the direction of Sloan Blair and Lynn Johnson, the theatre arts program, concert band, dance program, flag girls and concert choir performed 19 numbers. Blair is the school’s dance and theatre director. Johnson is the director of the band, choir and flags. Principal Jeremiah Johnson welcomed the crowd to the 7 p.m. show.
Johnson, in an email to staff, said that the comments he heard about the performance included: “What a fantastic and festive evening tonight!”
“The best holiday show in 26 years!” “Wonderful performance by all!” “Awesome job!” and “Loved it!”
“These are just some of the words of praise tonight from the community members that packed auditorium to come watch the 2017 Arts Department Holiday Performance,” Johnson wrote. “And I must agree! It was an awesome show! The kids were fantastic and their hard work paid dividends tonight as members of Gator Nation left East in a festive and holiday mood! A big thanks to Lynn Johnson and Sloan Blair for organizing, rehearsing, and putting together an A+ program! I look forward to many more performances that are top notch!”
